These are the beaches we recommend for surfing. The Santa Cruz coast has several breaks, with waves for different levels and fewer people than the more famous destinations. It is a good starting point for anyone learning to surf.

Ericeira, 21 km away

Europe’s first World Surfing Reserve, with world-class waves and a fishing town full of character, ideal for a day of surfing followed by dinner by the sea.

Peniche, 35 km away

Known for Supertubos, it hosts international surf competitions. Thanks to the shape of the peninsula, there is almost always a beach with good conditions, whatever the wind.
